About
Zimbabwe Health Interventions (ZHI) is a not-for-profit human development organisation which is registered as a Trust under the Zimbabwe Deeds Registries Act (Chapter 20:05). ZHI’s mission is to develop and deliver innovative and sustainable high impact integrated health interventions with local communities while working with and strengthening existing institutions. The Re-Ignite, Innovate, Sustain Evidence Based Interventions for HIV Prevention (RISE) program will prevent new HIV infections among adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) using the Determined, Resilient, Empowered, AIDS-Free, Mentored and Safe (RISE) approach. The Determined, Resilient, Empowered, AIDS-Free, Mentored and Safe (DREAMS) program focuses on prevention of new HIV infections among adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) in Zimbabwe. DREAMS core package of services combines evidence-based approaches that go beyond the health sector, addressing the structural drivers that directly and indirectly increase AGYWs’ HIV risk, including poverty, gender inequality, sexual violence, and a lack of education. The program is being implemented in 6 high HIV burden, partial maintenance districts (Bulawayo, Chipinge, Gweru, Makoni, Mazowe and Mutare) and 6 expansion districts (Beitbridge, Bulilima, Gwanda, Insiza, Mangwe and Matobo).
Basic Function
The Assistant Project Officer Services and Linkages (APOSL)- reports to the District Project Coordinator (DPC). Assisting the DPC in coordinating the provision of the comprehensive DREAMS Core Package of services to targeted adolescent girls, boys, and young women. The post holder uses DREAMS screening and enrolling data to identify clients who require services and support their access timely. With the guidance of the DPC, their role is to promote continuous improvement of service quality and turnaround time. Assist in engages AGYW to identify needs and engages, collaborates with service providers to bring the requisite services to AGYW. These services include those outside the DREAMS Core Package of services but relevant and complementary include identity documents, immunizations, and vaccinations, economic and social opportunities. The post holder is responsible for documenting and sharing client feedback with the DPC to drive the improvement of services. S/he is responsible for managing the planning, implementation, monitoring and systematic delivery of friendly need-based services for girls and young women at District and community levels. With the guidance of DPC, she/he liaises with DREAMS Ambassadors, beneficiaries, and service providers to deliver requisite services at community level as well as creating linkages with health facilities and other service providers. DREAMS is an HIV Prevention Program, and with the guidance of the DPC, the APOSL is responsible for timely identification, referral and supporting AGYW to access requite evidence-based services.
Job Description
In collaboration with the national, regional and DREAMS Consortium district teams, beneficiaries, service providers, the post holder will assist in developing the district specific Services and Linkage Implementation Plan, weekly, monthly and Quarterly Community based service delivery Schedules; Collaborate with DREAMS Ambassadors and establish functional Services and Referral Network (SRN) at community level; Coordinate the timely delivery of evidence and need-based DREAMS Core Services package in line with the set policies, protocols; Work closely with the SIE Team to obtain reports that inform, and guide identification of services required by beneficiaries in a particular location; Collaborate with beneficiaries, their circle of care and service providers to identify and unlock service access challenges; In collaboration with District Program Coordinator, organize regular delivery of community-based and integrated services (clinical, social protection and other services required by girls and young women) in collaboration with beneficiaries and DREAMS Ambassadors; Identify and collaborate with others to provide timely, evidence-based and comprehensive post violence care to girls and young women who require such services; Creates partnerships and builds synergies with strategic service providers including Ministry of Health and Child Care, ZNFPC, private providers and local authorities to make reproductive and Prevention services available to targeted groups at community and health facility level; Identify and sign Service Delivery Commitment (SDCs) with strategic partners; Maintain records and statistics as required, ensuring accurate statistics are supplied within required periods; Assist in the induction, integration, and assessment of DREAMS Ambassadors; Assist in training of Club Facilitators in basic Counselling, L.I.V.E.S and first line response mechanisms; Complies with all health and safety procedures to ensure their own safety and the safety of others in the workplace and active participation in maintaining a safe working environment for service provision; Ensure all service delivery points comply with the Project’s EMMP.
Knowledge, Skills and abilities
Excellent communication skills; Ability to work collaboratively and lead in a fast-changing and flexible environment; Ability to prioritize activities and tasks effectively; Demonstrable ability to operate at prime customer contact level; Experience with cross-functional working; Proven track record in the delivery of high quality customer service; Ability to work as part of a flexible, fast-changing environment; Demonstrated teamwork and networking abilities; Computer literacy; Proficiency in local languages is a distinct added advantage.
Qualifications and experience
Degree in Social Work / Health Promotions or any community development related degree; At least a years’ experience of supporting vulnerable AGYW especially counseling children’s survivors of violence; Certified USAID LIVES Training an added distinct advantage; Certified Cognitive Behavior Therapy training an added advantage; Experience working with adolescent girls and young women as a service provider of PrEP, reproductive health and counseling for post violence care services.
