Basic Function
The Data Analyst works under the supervision of the Knowledge Management Advisor in creating project data collection tools and database systems to store and analyze project data; The Data Analyst is expected to generate infographics, maps, tables, storyboards, and graphs to share with respective M&E and program teams; S/he supports the M&E team in the delivery of data collection tools and visualization for all ZHI projects; The individual must be an independent thinker who is creative, self-confident and can apply statistical methods to complex datasets to drive clinical and operational decision-making within ZHI projects.
Job Description
Support the Senior Database Officer in ZHI M&E and data management processes at national level; Organize and collect data from different ZHI projects databases; Analyze program data and interpret results to the respective project and M&E teams; Provide technical expertise on data storage structures, data mining, and data cleaning; Maintain ZHI databases and design data analysis plan linked to routine data management processes; Identify salient data patterns, perform complex analysis, and interpret trends/patterns from data; Develop innovative and appropriate data visualization methods to convey key trends to a range of audiences including healthcare workers, MOHCC and donors; Provide regular training for new and existing staff on the developed data visualization tools; Produce high quality reports based on accurate and verified data under the guidance of technical team leads, conduct in-depth and robust data analysis and presentation; Present information in a variety of formats and conveying complex information to people who may not be specialists in the area; Investigate ad hoc queries, assist in data interpretation, and present results; Identify exceptions and errors and investigate and report on the likely sources for such errors which should be followed up by the SIE managers and senior technical officers at national and district level to identify the reason/type of data error and correct them; Ensure high quality data by establishing and enforcing ZHI standards.
Knowledge, Skills and abilities
Experience analyzing big data sets; Experience and skills using DHIS2, EMR and National HMIS systems, including a working knowledge of MOHCC data collection tools, Microsoft R, Python, Power BI, and Tableau; Ability to write comprehensive reports; Strong verbal and written communication skills; An analytical mind and inclination for problem-solving; Ability to travel a minimum of 25%.
Qualifications and experience
Minimum of University degree in Statistics, Biostatistics, Demography, Public Health, Epidemiology, Data Analytics, or any other relevant degree with at least 3 years relevant experience; A master’s degree in any of the above is an added advantage; Knowledge and experience in the use of statistical packages for analyzing data (STATA, SPSS, SAS, or EPI-Info, Excel etc.).
