About

Zimbabwe Health Interventions (ZHI) is a not-for-profit human development organisation which is registered as a Private Voluntary Organization (PVO 17/22). ZHI’s mission is to develop and deliver innovative and sustainable high-impact, integrated health interventions to the communities we serve, while working with and strengthening existing institutions.

ZHI is the prime awardee of the Re-Ignite Innovate Sustain and Empower (RISE) program which is a five-year (October 2021 – September 2026) United States Agency for International Development (USAID) funded program. The RISE program is one of the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) funded programs through USAID that aims to disrupt the main drivers of HIV risk for adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) in Zimbabwe using a proven approach called Determined, Resilient, Empowered, AIDS-free, Mentored, and Safe women (DREAMS). The program goal is to contribute to the reduction of new HIV infections amongst AGYW 10-24 by 2026 in Zimbabwe by strengthening HIV and sexual violence prevention. We do this by keep girls and young women HIV Free through supporting them to: 1) stay in school; 2) prevent early pregnancies; 3) prevent sexual violence; 4) access post-violence care; and 5) reduce child marriage. The program is led by a consortium partnership of ZHI, Family Health International (FHI 360), Family Support Trust (FST), and Umzingwane AIDS Network (UAN), and is being implemented in 11 districts (i.e., Beitbridge, Bulawayo, Bulilima, Gokwe South, Gwanda, Gweru, Insiza, Mangwe, Matobo, Mberengwa, and Mazowe) across four provinces in Zimbabwe (i.e., Mashonaland Central, Midlands, Bulawayo, and Matabeleland South provinces).


Basic Function

Under the supervision of the Project Assistant (PA), the Program Graduate Intern (PGI) will go through a one-year structured internship program. The internship program will assist the intern to appreciate various aspects of program management and support including operations, administration, finances, and logistics. The PGI will also learn how to handle and support program documentation process both hard and soft copies, reports, MoUs, contracts and other important program documents. The PGI will be expected to familiarize him/herself with ZHI operations and support the PA to process and track program procurements. The PGI will also be expected to support the PA to organize the DREAMS-RISE Project meetings with national and districts staff, sub-partners, and stakeholders.


Job Description

Through a structured internship program and under the guidance of the PA, the PGI intern will be expected to appreciate program and administrative support to the program team in the preparation of various program documents, such as work plans, budgets, reports and proposals on program implementation arrangements; assemble briefing materials and prepare power-point and other presentations for the program unit; Identify sources, and gather and compile data and information for the preparation of documents, guidelines, and other material as required; Assist the program team in reviewing and preparing documentation on the procurement of goods and services, and support contract tracking; Provide administrative support to the program team in the organization of events, meetings and workshops, etc.; Make travel arrangements for the program team and project staff, including preparation of travel requisitions and claims; Draft non-substantive correspondence; Maintain and organize up-to-date hard and electronic files for easy access and retrieval. Ensure safekeeping of confidential materials; Create and maintain files of correspondence/documents and electronically received information and ensure up-to- date filing. Maintain both hardcopies and electronic copies of the office records and reference files on various subjects; Prepare presentation material/slides in Power-point for presentations for the meetings/workshops and keep all papers ready for meetings.


Knowledge, Skills and abilities

Ability to plan and prioritize own work under tight deadlines as well as to work on own initiative and as a member of a team; Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality; Strong computer skills in a Microsoft Windows/Office environment.


Qualifications and experience

Recent graduate holding a degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies or equivalent; At least a year of work-related learning experience; Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and projects to meet deadlines; Work related learning experience in an NGO or developmental sector is required.
